The grammar, the syntax, the poetic structure, and the theatrical tradition behind the language all shape what the text is doing and what a singer or conductor needs to understand before the preparation is complete.

Audition Prep Session
One session · 90 minutes · One-on-one
A focused, intensive working session on a specific piece with an upcoming deadline. This session is for singers who need the Italian text of a specific aria, recitative, or audition excerpt to be more specific, more grounded, and more performance-ready.
The session works directly with the text you bring. Pronunciation is addressed where it needs attention. The work goes further into the grammar, syntax, poetic structure, and historical and theatrical context that shape how the text moves and what it means for the performance.
This session is a good fit if you are:
Preparing a specific aria or audition excerpt for an upcoming audition, jury, competition, or recital
A singer who wants the text to be more than decoded before a coaching
A conductor or vocal coach preparing a specific work and wanting deeper command of the Italian text
When you book, you will complete a short intake form describing the piece you are preparing, your upcoming deadline, and what you most want to work on. You are welcome to upload a score, a text, or any other resource you want to focus on in the session.

Aria Intensive
5 sessions · 60 minutes each · One-on-one
Sustained preparation for an aria, audition group, or competition set across five sessions. For singers who have a meaningful timeline and want to go deeper into the Italian text than a single session allows.
Over five sessions, we build a complete arc of preparation together. We connect pronunciation to meaning rather than treating it as a separate task. We work through the grammar and syntax that shape relationship and emphasis, the poetic and rhetorical structure that clarifies breath and phrasing, and the historical and theatrical context that makes interpretation more informed and more specific. By the final session, the text is not something you are managing. It is something you understand from the inside.
This intensive is a good fit if you are:

Role Preparation Intensive
10 sessions · 60 minutes each · One-on-one
Full role or major repertoire preparation before rehearsals begin. Ten sessions across the complete scope of the role, working through every scene, every character relationship, and every rhetorical pressure point together.
This is where we go deepest. We work through the full dramatic and linguistic world of the role scene by scene. We address recitative specifically and in detail, not as connective tissue between arias but as dramatic action in its own right. We unpack archaic and poetic language that resists literal translation. We examine character relationships, formal and informal address, status and hierarchy, and the historical and theatrical conventions behind the libretto. Together we build the kind of preparation that informs every interpretive decision you bring into the first rehearsal.

What to expect and how to prepare
Every session is shaped around your repertoire, your questions, and your goals. There is no fixed syllabus and no generic curriculum. Sessions begin where you are and work through what you most need.
Depending on what you bring, sessions can cover:
Pronunciation and phonetics rooted in the historical vocal repertoire
Grammar and syntax as tools for understanding relationship, emphasis, and dramatic intention
Poetic structure, compression, and rhetorical turns in aria and recitative
Historical and theatrical context: where the language comes from and what that means for your interpretation
Formal and informal address, pronouns, and register as guides to character relationship
Recitative preparation: text-driven pacing, status, address, and dramatic action
Working translation toward a performance-ready understanding of the text
Come prepared with your score, libretto, and questions. You are welcome to upload a score, a text, a translation, or any other resource at booking so the first session can begin immediately.
What you need for sessions
A quiet, distraction-free environment. Background noise affects pronunciation work and focused listening significantly.
A good quality microphone. The built-in microphone on most laptops is adequate, but a dedicated USB or headset microphone makes a noticeable difference.
Headphones. They reduce audio feedback and help you stay focused.
A notebook and pen. Writing by hand supports retention and gives you notes to refer back to between sessions.
A computer rather than a tablet or phone. Document sharing and score work are significantly easier on a computer.
Your score and text, open and ready before the session begins.
