Not everyone needs the same path. Find yours.
Whether you are building a language foundation, preparing a specific piece, or ready to go deeper into Italian sound and text, there is a path here that fits where you are and where you want to go.
Most singers and musicians piece together Italian and French preparation from whatever is available: an app, a diction session, a translation, a language class that was not built for performers. Each of those tools has its place. But none of them alone closes the gap between where you are now and where you need to be.
Lingua & Libretto offers three distinct paths for individual singers, musicians, and serious adult learners. Each one is designed around a different need and a different moment in preparation. Together they cover the full range, from building contemporary language foundations to understanding Italian opera text at its deepest level.
The work begins where you are.

Modern Italian & French Study
Contemporary Italian and French for adult learners who want real progress. Not apps, not casual conversation classes, not a course that skips the grammar.
Sessions are structured, phonetically serious, and shaped around your level and your goals. Whether you are starting from scratch, returning after a gap, or building toward fluency for travel, study abroad, conservatory life, or professional use, the work begins where you are.
Musicians and performers with Italian or French repertoire are particularly welcome.

Italian Sound & Text Workshops
02
Live online · Cohort-based
Two focused workshops for singers, teachers, and collaborative artists who want a more complete relationship to Italian repertoire. Not a diction checklist. Not a grammar lecture. A practical, performance-oriented method for understanding how Italian sounds and how Italian text works.
The first workshop focuses on pronunciation and diction. The second focuses on the text as performance material: syntax, word order, rhetoric, poetic structure, and dramatic relationship.
Each workshop stands alone. Together they form a stronger foundation.

Opera Text Coaching
Private · One-on-one sessions
For singers preparing a specific aria, audition, role, or scene who want to understand the Italian text more deeply than a translation can take them.
Sessions work directly with your repertoire. Pronunciation is addressed where it needs attention, but the work goes further: into the grammar and syntax that shape relationship and emphasis, the poetic structure and theatrical conventions of Italian opera, and the historical context of the language itself. Understanding how Italian poetry works on the stage, and what tradition and convention lie behind a libretto, gives singers a more informed and confident basis for interpretation.
The result is a deeper, more confident relationship to the text: one that informs every musical and dramatic choice you make in the room.
Three formats are available depending on your timeline and the scope of what you are preparing.
